With everyone's lifestyle and budget in mind, we came up with a Buying Guide as well as a Top 10 list of foot deos to purchase online. We also found a video where a US-based foot doctor shares her tips on how to get rid of that funky smell from our feet and shoes. All that and more below!
When naturally-occurring bacteria in our feet come into contact with our sweat, the waste products produced by these microbes give off a foul odor, also known as bromodosis. This may be the reason why most people who live in hot and humid areas suffer from sweaty and smelly feet.
However, teenagers and pregnant women are more susceptible to having odorous feet due to the hormonal changes that they're are experiencing. Additionally, people who are obese or those who have an existing medical condition such as hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and anxiety are more prone to having smelly feet.
Moreover, those who wear closed and tight shoes or people who are on their feet all day can also suffer from bromodosis. Lastly, improper foot hygiene can cause bad smells to surface from your feet.
Amoy paa getting you down? Worry not, as we're here to help! Keep the sweat and smell at bay by reading through our buying guide below.
Before purchasing a foot deodorant, take a look at the ingredients. Your foot deo should keep your feet sweat and odor-free but still be safe to use. Here are some ingredients to look out for and the ones to avoid.
For people who have sensitive skin, an all-natural foot deodorant is the way to go. Potassium aluminum, more commonly known as tawas, is a natural way to combat smelly feet. This classic antiperspirant, loved by most Filipinos, can be used as a safe alternative to toxic ingredients such as aluminum compounds and alcohols.
Additionally, manufacturers incorporate essential oils to foot deos for a couple of reasons. First, tea tree oil has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties which keep your feet odor-free. On the other hand, both lavender and peppermint give you that refreshing feeling. Aloe vera is oftentimes added due to its moisturizing properties.
No matter what your skin type is, try to avoid harmful ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, triclosan, alcohol, and aluminum. These ingredients can irritate your skin or even disrupt your endocrine system, which is responsible for producing hormones. However, if these can’t be avoided, make sure they’re present only in small amounts.
Now that we’ve listed down a few ingredients to take note of before purchasing this item, let’s now go through the different types of foot deodorants. This may depend on your lifestyle, whether you’re an active person or one who likes to stay inside the house.
For people who are always-on-the-go, a foot deodorant spray may be the best choice for you. This type of foot deo dries quickly and feels cool on the skin, ideal for hot days. Use it for a quick touch-up to keep the sweat and smell at bay, any time of the day!
If you have time to dry your feet after showering, go for the powder variant. Most foot deodorant powders offer whole-day protection, so sweaty and smelly feet will be the least of your worries! We also recommend this type of foot deo for people who sweat a lot for the same reason.
Still not sure about which foot deodorant to pick? One way to narrow your choices is to buy from a trusted merchant, say your go-to supermarket, drugstore, or beauty retailer online. Doing so oftentimes guarantees the authenticity of the product.
However, if you have an existing skin or health condition, it’s best to consult your dermatologist first before making the splurge. That’s because some ingredients may clash with the medicines that you’re currently taking or even cause skin irritation.
Now that you know how to choose the right foot deodorant, it's now time to reveal our Top 10 picks! From cult classics to new favorites, check out the best foot deos to buy in Lazada, Shopee, and your favorite beauty retailers below.

If you’ve tried everything yet you still can’t get rid of that pungent smell, don’t lose hope! US-based podiatrist Dr. Shobowale shares some tips on how you can eliminate foot odor at home. Click on the video or check out our summary below.
Keep your nails short since long nails can serve as a breeding ground for bacteria. If you have diabetes or blood flow issues, set an appointment with your podiatrist so that they can clip your nails for you.
Spray both the inside and outside of your shoes with a sanitizing spray after every use. If you don’t have a sanitizing spray at home, let your shoes air dry outside the house. Make sure to lift the tongue of your shoes to let the air circulate. As we say in Tagalog, para sumingaw ang amoy.
Wear breathable socks made of cotton, especially when you wear covered shoes often. If you don’t have cotton socks, take off your shoes in between study or work breaks to let your feet breathe.
Never reuse your socks! Make sure to change them daily since dead skin cells and sweat can accumulate, which contributes to that funky smell.
As much as possible, alternate between 2 or more pairs of shoes. However, if you only have one pair of shoes, make sure to deodorize them daily. This can be done by putting a newspaper or a mesh bag that contains baking soda or lemon inside and leaving them overnight.
Soak your feet in warm water with your favorite essential oil, 1 or 2 lemons, or black tea for 10 minutes. Then, pat dry and moisturize with olive oil since it's also a natural anti-fungal. However, if you have diabetes, blood flow issues, or neuropathy, consult your doctor before doing this.
After showering and moisturizing your feet, apply deodorant. Make sure to apply it in between your toes and at the bottom of your feet to keep your feet sweat and odor-free.
Just like the rest of your body, your feet need some TLC too! Show them some love by putting on your favorite socks, using foot massage tools, and moisturizing them with foot creams. Check out our recommendations below.
Say goodbye to dyahe moments with the right foot deodorant. This product keeps your feet sweat and odor-free throughout the day. However, if you're currently taking medications or have allergies to certain ingredients, it's best to consult your dermatologist first before making the splurge.
Engaging in a self-care ritual, from your face down to your toes, is the best gift you can give to yourself all year round. Looking for other mybest recommendations? Check out our Instagram and Facebook for more insightful articles.
