Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches! If you are at a loss as to how you can find the best one for the holidays, we are here to help you with our buying guide. Below are some considerations you should take note of before purchasing your tree.
The first thing you should consider when purchasing a Christmas tree is its size. Measure the height of the room from floor to ceiling and give provision for a stand if you wish to have more space for your gifts at the bottom. Trees come in standard heights that make it easier for you to choose which one best fits your space.
Tabletop trees are ideal for small spaces. These are trees that are under 6 feet high. If you live in a small apartment or condominium, look for one that is about 6 to 6.5 feet in height. On the other hand, if you live in an average-sized home, a 7-footer tree would be your best bet.
If you have a large home with high ceilings, then you can choose from a 9-foot tree or higher. Also, consider the length of the topper that you will put on the tree. Give an allowance of at least 6 inches between the top of the tree and your ceiling.
Christmas trees come in different shapes, and this determines how much room they will take up inside your home. If you plan on putting up the tree in a spacious area, you can go for a full tree that is wide.
If you have limited space for the tree, it is best to choose a slimmer version. Do you plan on putting it up against the wall? Flatback trees are also available to save on space.
As you visualize how you'd like to decorate your Christmas tree, think about the branches where you will be hanging them. There are some trees that have full branches, which could work well with minimal decorations. If you want to pile up on the decorations, consider getting a tree with sparse branches that you can fill with all the trimmings your heart desires.
Traditional Christmas trees are often green in color, however, there are a lot of different shades that you can choose from. There are dark green trees that look warm and inviting, and lighter green shades that look more joyful.
If you want to bring White Christmas to your tropical home, opt for a white Christmas tree. Going for a certain color theme? There are trees that come in pink, blue, purple, and more! You can definitely go all out with the color of your choice.
There are two common materials used for making Christmas trees, which are PE or Polyethylene and PVC or Polyvinyl chloride. PE trees look realistic as they are injection-molded to mimic the appearance of evergreen needles. Meanwhile, PVC trees are the more affordable alternative to PEs.
The latter has flat limbs that need to be shaped after you take them out of storage to give them a fuller look. However, there are also Christmas trees that are made from a combination of the two materials, which give them more dimension.
Do you want your tree to look like it was decorated by a professional? Here are some tips from Michelle O’Malley that can help you achieve that Pinterest-worthy Christmas tree!
