They also last a long time without fading, which makes them suitable for important documents. The ink generally lasts longer than that of gels, but the more pressure you write with, the more ink you use. However, the colors are less bold and ink blots can occur frequently.
One caveat is that they can smudge, feather, or bleed easily especially on uncoated paper. It can also dry up easily if you forget to place the cap back on.
They also smudge easily and run out of ink much quicker than ballpoint ones. But if you’re looking for pens with a lot of vibrant colors to choose from, gel ones have you covered.
Hybrid ink can also be thought of as a catch-all term for enhanced or advanced inks that different brands have developed. Certain brands also use their own terms for the inks they’ve developed. Some popular ones are Uni’s Jetstream, Parker’s Quinkflow, and Pilot’s Acroballs.
On the other hand, if you tend to press down hard, look for a pen with a thicker tip of 0.7-1.0mm. If you plan on writing for long hours, then make sure to get a pen with a good grip. The grip will lessen the burden on your hand allowing you to continue writing or drawing.
There are three types of pens: retractable, twist, and capped pens. If you need to write fast while you’re working or studying, then we recommend a retractable pen. Twist type pens are usually multi-function, including a mechanical pencil or a red pen. They’re quite handy if you need to switch between colors or functions.
Cap type pens are best if you always end up with ball pen stains in your bag or pocket. The chances of accidentally exposing the tip are lower than that of the other two types.
Erasable pens work by using the rubber tip on the end to rub the ink. The friction causes the ink to heat up and disappear at a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius. They’re not advisable to use for important documents as the ink may reappear at temperatures of -10 degrees Celsius.
Some models even have a mechanical pencil attachment available. This is probably the best option if you use a lot of colors for your school or work notes.
