Finding products specifically geared towards oily skin can be very challenging. From the product consistency to the product formulation and ingredients, up to the product's price point, there are plenty of factors to consider.

Skincare for oily skin doesn't have to be tedious because there are actually a lot of great skincare options for oily skin, be it cleansers, moisturizers, and, believe it or not, even sunscreens! And the best part, there's a great option for every budget level.

  • The Inkey List
    Salicylic Acid Cleanser

    Jan Angelo Ong

This cleanser from The Inkey List has been mentioned several times in my YouTube channel already—and for a good reason! Like most of the products from the brand, their Salicylic Acid Cleanser is exactly what it claims it to be.

This cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid, the maximum amount of salicylic acid in a product to gently exfoliate the skin, as well as unclog the pores, and reduce inflammation. Unlike other active ingredients in skincare that need to be left on for them to work, salicylic acid is an oil-soluble ingredient, meaning you can leave it on just for a few seconds, and it will have some significant effects!

I like to use this cleanser every other morning, alternating with a separate gentle cleanser, so my skin doesn't get over exfoliated and irritated. But aside from having to use this product a bit more conservatively due to its high salicylic acid content, this is actually not that drying compared to other salicylic acid cleansers. Overall a holy grail cleanser for me!
  • Klenzit
    Face Wash

Fun fact: it was actually a couple of my viewers who introduced me to this cleanser! They mentioned that this was one of the recommendations of their dermatologists. And because dermatologists are "the" skincare experts to follow, I just had to try this cleanser out!

True enough, the hype is real! This cleanser contains 1.5% salicylic acid, which is a modest amount. I suggest going for1.5% if you want to start using salicylic acid cleansers but are afraid to jump in at 2% strength right away.

At this percentage, exfoliation and unclogging of pores will still definitely happen. And the best part about this cleanser is that it foams really well, and very satisfyingly!
  • QuickFX
    Pimple Eraser Facial Gel Cleanser

    Jan Angelo Ong

This is probably the only salicylic acid cleanser that I would be confident to use every day. This cleanser is surprisingly gentle—and I say surprisingly because most salicylic acid cleansers tend to be drying, even if it includes only the tiniest amount!

This newly-released cleanser from QuickFX has zero signs of dryness at all. In fact, it's one of the gentlest cleansers I've tried, period! It contains 1% salicylic acid, which is a good middle ground for those who want to get the benefits of salicylic acid but are too sensitive for 1.5% or 2%.

Since it's a rather gentle cleanser, this, unfortunately, does not have a "bubbling, satisfying" feeling, but it makes up for it with its very gentle feel after washing it off. This cleanser is a god-send for oily and sensitive skin!
  • Pyunkang Yul
    ACNE Facial Cleanser

    Jan Angelo Ong

I included this cleanser in the mix because not all skin types can tolerate the daily use of a salicylic acid cleanser. What I personally do is alternate it every other morning with a gentle gel cleanser.

One of my current favorites is the Pyunkang Yul ACNE Cleanser, which is amazing for all kinds of oily skin types—even oily-sensitive! This goes on very lightly on the skin and also bubbles just a little bit.

It washes off without any trace of dryness on the skin, and unlike other harsh cleansers, this does not strip off moisture at all! I would definitely recommend this as an everyday cleanser for oily skin.
  • Heimish
    Moisture Surge Gel Cream

    Jan Angelo Ong

There was a time that I stopped using gel-type moisturizers completely because I thought they didn't seal in the moisture in my skin enough. However, this new product from Heimish totally proved me wrong and brought back my love for lighter, gel-type moisturizers.

I'm actually not sure why this product isn't getting the hype it deserves! This lightweight gel moisturizer goes on very lightly on the skin, and like many gel moisturizers, it is very hydrating.

It contains watermelon extract, which is a great water-holding ingredient, and aside from that, it also includes niacinamide, an amazing multitasking ingredient known to have benefits for oily skin, dark spots, redness, and skin barrier-building. And speaking of skin barrier-building, this also contains ceramides and phytosphingosine, which are also excellent ingredients for the task.
  • Pyunkang Yul
    Acne Cream

    Jan Angelo Ong

This is another product from the Pyunkang Yul ACNE line that I love and have mentioned already on my YouTube channel. Contrary to its name, I actually do not consider this as a "cream", but more of a "watery gel" since it goes on really easy and light on the skin.

Like most of Pyunkang Yul's products, this product is the best for skin types that are particularly sensitive. Aside from the barrier-building niacinamide, this moisturizer also contains soothing plant extracts like Centella Asiatica, Green Tea, Licorice Root, and Chamomile.
  • Céleteque
    Hydration Facial Moisturizer

    Jan Angelo Ong

Also mentioned in my Best Drugstore Products List, this is really the one to beat when it comes to budget, lightweight moisturizers!

This gel-type moisturizer is truly lightweight and is one of the few moisturizers where I can say that after a few seconds, it feels like nothing. It's really that good! I always recommend this moisturizer for those who hate the creamy, lotion-y feeling of them and just want a light feeling.

My favorite thing about this product is that it's absolutely accessible! From drugstores to department stores, to even some supermarkets, chances are, you've already passed by this product without you even noticing it.
  • Krave Beauty
Beet The Sun SPF 50 PA++++

    Jan Angelo Ong

I love this sunscreen not only because I'm a big fan of YouTuber turned skincare brand owner Liah Yoo, but also because this sunscreen has some amazing ingredients!

Don't be fooled by the "alcohol" in the ingredients listーlike I always tell my viewers, alcohol isn't necessarily bad in skincare. It's a great emulsifier, or in layman's terms, it helps keep the product together, and it helps the skin absorb UV filters better. However, naturally, alcohol can be drying, which is why I specifically recommend this sunscreen for oily, non-sensitive skin.

When it comes to UV filters, this is really the one to beat. This contains Uvinul T 150, Uvinul A Plus, and Tinosorb S— all very advanced UV filters that effectively filter out a huge amount of UVA and UVB rays.

Aside from the aforementioned ingredients, this also contains antioxidant-rich beetroot extract, vitamin C, resveratrol, and EGCG, all excellent ingredients to boost the already amazing anti-aging effects of sunscreen.
  • Canmake
Mermaid UV Gel SPF 50 PA++++

    Jan Angelo Ong

This is one of the sunscreens that I can easily recommend to almost anyone, but especially for oily skin types that don't want to feel the "creaminess" or the lotion-y texture of sunscreen on their face.

Canmake's Mermaid UV Gel is a great sunscreen that feels like it's a light cream upon application, but once you spread it, it is actually more like a watery gel. It contains the advanced Uvinul A Plus and Tinosorb S, which means it offers amazing UV protection.

Additionally, it also puts in the tried and tested zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which are both "physical" sunscreens that have more benefits for those with more sensitive skin. Because of that, this is my go-to sunscreen when my skin feels slightly more sensitive. Plus, an additional benefit: this also works well as a primer under makeup!
  • Sunplay
Kids Sunscreen Lotion SPF 60 PA+++

    Jan Angelo Ong

Once again, another sunscreen in my best drugstore skincare selection, this is a great sunscreen not only because of its fairly lightweight consistency but also for its portability. It may not be the lightest sunscreen, but its milky consistency is absorbed pretty well by oily skin types.

This sunscreen combines old-school UV filters like octinoxate and octisalate with newer and more advanced UV filters like Uvinul T150 and Univul A Plus, making it a very effective chemical sunscreen. Like all of my drugstore skincare picks, this is also an easy find!
